The Davey Microlene PPAC10 is a pleated powdered activated carbon cartridge that combines sediment filtration with chlorine, taste, and odour reduction in a single stage. The pleated polyester construction gives it a large filtration surface area, allowing higher flow rates than standard carbon block cartridges.
Important limitation: because the carbon loading in this media is limited compared to a dedicated carbon block, the PPAC10 is not recommended for the removal of organics, pesticides, or THMs. It is suited to polishing applications, closed loop systems, post reverse osmosis use, and rainwater filtration where combined sediment and basic taste and odour treatment is the goal.
Cold water use only. Constructed entirely from FDA grade materials.
Sold as a single cartridge.

Why Kiwi homeowners choose the PPAC10
- Dual action in one cartridge — sediment removal and chlorine/taste/odour reduction
- Pleated construction provides more filtration surface area than standard carbon cartridges
- Higher flow rates than carbon block cartridges at the same size
- FDA grade materials throughout
- Ideal for rainwater and polishing applications
- NZ-based support if you need help choosing or replacing
Important — what this cartridge is not for
The PPAC10 contains a limited quantity of activated carbon bonded to polyester. This is enough for chlorine, taste, and odour reduction, but it is not sufficient for the removal of organics, pesticides, or THMs. For those applications, a dedicated carbon block cartridge is required. Get in touch if you're unsure which cartridge suits your water quality needs.

FAQ
What does the PPAC10 actually do?
It combines two functions in one cartridge — the pleated polyester structure physically traps sediment down to 10 microns, while the powdered activated carbon bonded to the media reduces chlorine and the compounds that cause off tastes and odours.
What doesn't it do?
Because the carbon loading is limited compared to a dedicated carbon block, the PPAC10 is not recommended for removing organics, pesticides, or THMs. If those are concerns for your water supply, a carbon block cartridge is the better choice.
How is it different from a carbon block cartridge?
The pleated construction gives it more filtration surface area and higher flow rates than a carbon block at the same housing size. The trade-off is less total carbon contact time, which is why it is not suited to organics, pesticides, or THM removal.
When do I replace it?
Replace it when offending chemical smell or taste returns in the filtered water. There is no fixed litre capacity stated — replace on sensory signal. For critical applications, Davey recommends running two filters in a lag/lead arrangement with regular chemical testing.
Will it fit my housing?
The PPAC10 is a 10" standard cartridge (10" × 2.5"). It fits any 10" standard filter housing. If your housing takes a 2.5" diameter cartridge, it's compatible.
Can I use it with warm or hot water?
No — this cartridge is rated for cold water use only. Maximum temperature is 52°C but it is specified for cold water applications.
Is it suitable for rainwater?
Yes — the datasheet specifically lists rainwater as an application. It's well suited to combined sediment and taste treatment of rainwater supplies.
What warranty applies?
Filter cartridges are consumable items. If yours arrives damaged or defective, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
