Rainwater vs mains — MC Series

The MC-SERVKIT-RN and MC-SERVKIT-MN suit the same systems but with different filter configurations for different water sources.

MC-SERVKIT-RN (rainwater) includes a 20 micron polypleated and 1 micron polyspun — focused on sediment removal for tank water supplies.

MC-SERVKIT-MN (mains water) includes a 5 micron polyspun and 5 micron activated carbon block — adding chlorine and taste treatment for town supply connections.

How often to replace

Replace the full service kit every 12 months. UV lamp output decreases over time even when the lamp is still visibly lit — replace on schedule regardless of visible condition. The quartz sleeve should be cleaned at each service and replaced if scratched or cloudy. Replacing all components together at the annual service ensures the full system is restored to specification.

Which kit do I need?

Are these genuine Davey parts?

Yes — all components are genuine Davey. These are the official Davey UV service kits, not compatible aftermarket replacements.

What's the difference between MC-SERVKIT-RN and MC-SERVKIT-MN?

Both kits suit the same MC series systems. The RN kit is for rainwater and tank water supplies — it includes sediment filters to handle particulates common in tank water. The MN kit is for mains (town) water — it swaps the sediment-only configuration for a polyspun and carbon block combination that also addresses chlorine taste and odour.

Why is a quartz sleeve included?

The quartz sleeve surrounds the UV lamp inside the chamber. Scale or deposits on the sleeve block UV light from reaching the water, reducing treatment effectiveness. The sleeve should be cleaned at each annual service and replaced if scratched or cloudy — replacing it annually as part of the full kit change is best practice.

Why do I need to replace the filters at the same time as the lamp?

The 12-month lamp replacement interval aligns with the filter service interval. Replacing everything together ensures the full system is restored — a new lamp with exhausted filters still delivers degraded water quality overall.

Can I service the system myself?

For filter changes, yes — Davey UV systems use standard jumbo housings with a housing spanner. UV lamp and quartz sleeve replacement requires care — always turn off power before servicing and follow the instructions in your system manual. If you're unsure, a plumber or service technician can complete the annual service.

What warranty applies?

UV lamps, quartz sleeves, and filter cartridges are consumables and don't carry a standard product warranty. If you receive any item that is visibly damaged or defective on arrival, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
