Industrial Best Sellers: The Tow Lines, Winch Rope, Pulleys and Tie-Downs Kiwis Are Buying Now

Summer's nearly here, which means more towing, more hauling and more gear strapped onto trailers and utes. So we dug back through the last 90 days of orders in our Industrial range to see what Kiwis are genuinely buying right now. We skipped the items from our last few Industrial round-ups, and what's left is a solid mix of heavy recovery gear, winch rope and the small hardware that gets every job done. Here are five real recent best sellers.

1. TiTAN Endless Sling Towing Line 70T - 10m

TiTAN endless sling polyester towing line 70T 10m

Our headline pick, and the serious end of the range. This is TiTAN's big polyester endless sling towing line, 10 metres long and 70T rated, with the sling running inside a protective cover sleeve. The clever bit is that you can rotate the endless sling inside that cover to spread the wear, so it lasts longer. TiTAN say these lines are lighter and more flexible than wire, with more stretch than wire, Kevlar and Dyneema lines, and each one carries a unique serial number. It's a towing line, not a lifting sling, and the product page is clear it's not for lifting, shock loading or stretch recovery. Heavy haulage, salvage and commercial towing operators are the ones buying it.

Price: $685 - TiTAN Endless Sling Towing Line 70T-10m. More in towing & recovery strops.

2. Winchline UHM12 8mm x 100m Reel

Donaghys Winchline UHM12 8mm x 100m reel

Winchline by the metre is always near the top of our Industrial sales, and plenty of buyers are now going for the full 100m reel instead. This is Donaghys' 12-plait single braid in UHMwPE with an Armorcoat finish. Donaghys say it's 8 times lighter and 70 percent stronger than wire, low stretch, UV and chemical resistant, won't kink and is easy to splice. The coating also helps it grip the winch drum and resist snagging. The product page lists 4x4 winch ropes, vehicle recovery, strops, mining and logging among its uses. A full reel suits anyone making up several lines or kitting out a work fleet.

Price: $574.64 per 100m reel - Winchline UHM12 8mm x 100m Reel. See all winch lines & soft shackles.

3. Single Awning Pulley - 20mm to 50mm

cast zinc swivel eye single awning pulley

The top unit seller on this list by a long way. It's a cast zinc single pulley with a swivel eye, in five sizes from 20mm (suits 3-5mm rope) up to 50mm (suits 6-11mm rope). People use them on awnings, flag poles, window shades and around the campsite. Keep in mind they're for light-duty synthetic rope jobs only. The page says they're not for wire rope and not for lifting or hanging loads. A cheap, handy fix as the camping season kicks off.

Price: from $4.50 - Single Awning Pulley. More in pulley blocks & clips.

4. Tiedown - 35mm Black 6.5m 1.0T with S-Hooks

35mm black ratchet tiedown 6.5m 1.0T with S hooks

A tidy all-black ratchet tie-down: black polyester webbing, black ratchet and black powder-coated S-hooks. It's popular for theatre and staging work where you don't want gear to stand out, and it handles everyday trailer and ute loads too. It's 6.5m long with a 1000kg lashing capacity, labelled to AS/NZS4380 and stamped with a factory batch number. Worth having a few in the ute before the summer camping and boating trips.

Price: $32 - Tiedown 35mm Black 6.5M 1.0T. See all ratchet tie-downs.

5. Karabiner Spring Hook 7mm

Anzor karabiner spring hook 7mm

Small, cheap and always in demand. This 7mm spring-gate karabiner is 70mm long with a 400kg breaking load, sold individually. People use them for clipping gear together, hanging tools and quick-release connections around the shed, boat and trailer. It's a little sibling of the 8mm hook we've featured before, for jobs where a smaller clip does the trick.

Price: $9.50 each - Karabiner Spring Hook 7mm. Browse more snap hooks.

Also popular

Also selling: the Winchline UHM12 6mm x 100m reel at $379.51 if 8mm is more than you need, the smaller 25mm black tiedown, 5.5m 0.4T at $25, and for heavy haulage the TiTAN 5T ratchet tiedown at $94, certified to NZS4380. Strong, reliable gear like this is just as useful in the Pacific Islands as it is here in NZ.
