Wire Rope Slings
Used in heavy construction and mining. Check wire ropes regularly for broken strands.
Hoists
Manual Chain Hoists
Pull a chain, lift a load. Simple, reliable, no power required. Available from 0.5T to 20T.
Lever Hoists (Come-Alongs)
Ratchet-style hoists for pulling and tensioning. Great for horizontal pulls as well as vertical lifts.

Shackles
The universal connector in rigging:
- Dee (D) Shackles — For in-line loads. Strongest configuration.
- Bow Shackles — Wider jaw for multi-leg sling connections.
- Stainless Steel — For marine and corrosive environments.
- Galvanised — Cost-effective for general use.
Safe Working Loads (SWL)
Never exceed the rated SWL. In New Zealand, all lifting equipment must comply with AS/NZS 4991 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. Key rules:
- All lifting gear must be inspected before each use
- Slings must be removed from service if damaged, frayed, or faded
- Chain must be inspected for stretch, cracks, and wear
- Lifting equipment must have current test certificates for rated loads over 1 tonne
