Trojan Trailer Parts Best Sellers: The Tow Balls, Winches and Springs Kiwis Are Buying Now
Spring is here, the boat's coming out of the shed and the caravan is getting its first run of the season. That usually means a quick once-over of the trailer and the tow vehicle, and a few parts that need swapping out. So we went back through our real sales from the last 90 days to see which Trojan Trailer Parts Kiwis are buying right now.
This round is about the hitch end of things: tow balls, tow pins, a heavy-duty suspension upgrade, and one serious bit of kit for the boat ramp.
1. Fulton XLT 10K Electric Winch – boats up to 26ft

This is the headline item on the list. The Fulton XLT is a fully DC-powered trailer winch rated for boats up to 26ft and 10,000lb. It does power in, power out and free spool, and comes with a wireless remote, so you can wind the boat on from beside the trailer instead of cranking a handle in the shallows. The strap has a swivelling hook to stop twisting, and a 3-position guide keeps it feeding out straight.
The buyers are mostly owners of bigger trailer boats who launch on their own, or anyone whose back has had enough of a manual winch on a steep ramp.

2. 1 7/8" Zinc Towball – 3500kg

The most popular Trojan part on our list by units this round. It's a 1 7/8" zinc-finished towball with a 1" x 60mm shank, rated to 3500kg. It complies with NZ Standard 5232-1993.
A worn or pitted towball is easy to overlook until the coupling starts rattling. People tend to grab one of these when they're already fixing up the trailer, or when they need a second ball to suit an older 1 7/8" coupling.

3. Hayman Reese Towball Multi Ball Kit – 7/8" x 60mm Shank

Plenty of Kiwi households tow two different trailers, and they don't always use the same ball size. The Multi Ball Kit fixes that. It has a quick-release design that swaps between a 1 7/8" and a 50mm ball in seconds, with no special tools needed. The shank is heat treated and the latch locks positively. It's rated to 3500kg as supplied.
It suits anyone towing a mix of old and new gear, like a boat trailer on one ball and a caravan or box trailer on another.

4. DO35 Tow Pin Kit – 1" Shaft

Off-road caravans and campers with a Cruisemaster DO35 coupling need a matching tow pin on the vehicle, and this boxed kit has it. You get the DO35 tow pin with a 1" shaft, a pin cover and a C-spanner. One thing to check before you buy: your tow tongue must take a 1" (25.4mm) pin shaft, and the shaft length is 65mm.
The buyers are off-grid caravanners, often fitting up a second tow vehicle or replacing a lost or worn pin.

5. Trojan Multi-Leaf Short Slipper Spring 5LF – 2000kg Pair

If a trailer is sagging or regularly carries heavy loads, the springs are often the first thing to go. This pair of five-leaf short slipper springs is rated to 2000kg per pair. The short design fits where a longer spring won't, and the 45 x 8mm leaves are Dacromet coated to resist corrosion.
It's a common pick for tradie trailers, heavier box trailers and anyone building a compact trailer that still needs to carry a real load.

Small parts keep trailers working too. The Trojan weld-on hinge pins ($22.00 a pair) and M12 bolt-on drop locks ($10.00) have both been selling steadily for tailgate and door repairs. Find them in hinges and latches.

Trojan gear is made for New Zealand trailers and NZ standards, which is why so many boaties, caravanners and tradies trust it.
