The Davey Microlene UV water disinfection system is one of the most trusted UV water filter solutions available in New Zealand, designed to protect your household from harmful bacteria, viruses, E. coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium without the use of chemicals.
As water passes through the stainless steel chamber, ultraviolet light at 254nm penetrates micro-organisms and destroys their ability to reproduce. The result is safe, clean water with no change to taste, smell, or water chemistry. No chlorine. No residuals. No overdosing risk.
Available in five models from UV24 to UV250, covering flow rates from 23 LPM up to 208 LPM, there is a Davey Microlene UV filter to suit small homes, large rural properties, and everything in between. Models UV24 through UV151 are WaterMark certified. All units feature a polished stainless steel chamber, a visual sight port to confirm the lamp is operating, and a fully potted splash-proof controller with audible and visual lamp failure alerts.
These are standalone UV units. Pre-filtration must be installed upstream for the system to work effectively. At minimum, 20-micron cartridge filtration is required. Where Giardia or Cryptosporidium are a concern, 1 micron filtration is needed at the point of use. If you are on bore water, we recommend testing your supply before selecting a model. FAQs
What water quality does the incoming supply need to meet for UV to work properly?
Hardness up to 120 mg/L, iron up to 0.3 mg/L, manganese up to 0.05 mg/L, tannins up to 0.1 mg/L, turbidity under 1 NTU, and UV transmittance above 75%. If your supply exceeds any of these, pre-treatment is needed before the UV unit will perform reliably.
What warranty comes with the Davey Microlene UV system?
The stainless steel chamber carries a 10-year warranty, electronics are covered for 3 years, and UV lamps and quartz sleeves are covered for 12 months.
Can I install the unit myself, or do I need a plumber?
The units arrive assembled and connect to a standard power outlet, but a licensed plumber is the safer path for most households and protects your warranty on the plumbing side. If you're confident with household plumbing, installation is straightforward, though it's worth checking with us first if you're unsure.
Does the unit need to be installed in a specific orientation?
Either horizontal or vertical works. If installed horizontally, the outlet should point upwards. If installed vertically, the outlet should point horizontally. Mounting brackets are supplied either way.
What fittings will I need to connect it to NZ plumbing?
The UV24, UV57, UV80, and UV151 use NPT connections, which aren't the NZ standard, so your plumber will need BSP-to-NPT adaptors from a plumbing merchant. The UV250 uses 2" BSP connections, which fit standard NZ plumbing directly.
