Industrial Best Sellers: The Recovery Gear, Chain and Loppers Kiwis Are Buying Now

Spring is here, which means more time on the farm, in the orchard, on the tracks and hooked up to the trailer. So we went back through the last 90 days of orders in our Industrial range to see what Kiwis have actually been buying. We set aside the products we featured in our last two Industrial round-ups, and what came through was recovery and towing gear plus one serious pruning tool. Here are five genuine recent best sellers.

1. Lasher Forestry Lopper 675mm

Our headline pick, and a great one for this time of year. This heavy-duty Lasher lopper gives you a 675mm reach, so you can work from a safer distance, and it prunes branches up to 50mm in diameter. The curved, hardened blade keeps the cut steady and clean, with less tearing on tough wood. Arborists, forestry crews and orchardists buy it, and the product page notes it's very handy for pruning large vine cordons too, so vineyard workers are in on it as well.

2. 8mm Snig Chain 2.5T x 5m with Grab Hook and Lug Link

A ready-to-use chain set for when something needs pulling out or dragging along. It's 8mm chain with a 2.5 tonne working load limit and 5m of length, finished with a grab hook at one end and a lug link at the other. The AMG G70 finish is made to stand up to wet, muddy and abrasive conditions. Farmers, 4WDers and contractors buy it for vehicle recoveries, farm jobs and site pulls. It's a staple in plenty of utes, from Northland to Southland and out to the Pacific Islands.

3. Winchline UHM12 4mm x 100m Reel

Winchline by the metre is far and away the biggest mover in our Industrial range. The 8mm Winchline alone sold 109 metres in the last 90 days. But plenty of people now buy a full reel. This Donaghys 12-plait UHMwPE single braid has an abrasion-resistant coating that grips the winch drum. The product page says it's 8 times lighter and 70 percent stronger than wire, with low stretch, no kinking and easy splicing. People buy it for strops, 4x4 winch ropes, recovery, logging and hauling lines.

4. Trailer Chain - 8mm x 410mm (10 Links)

Pre-cut safety chain, ready to fit. It's Grade 70 long link with a gold passivated coating, rated for a 2.5T maximum towing mass and marked to NZ Standard NZS5467. Each piece is 10 links, about 410mm long. Anyone building, repairing or upgrading a box trailer or boat trailer picks a couple up. At under ten bucks, it's an easy fix before your next WOF or a weekend away.

5. Karabiner Spring Hook 8mm

Simple, cheap and always useful. This Anzor spring hook is 80mm long, made from 8mm stock, and has a listed breaking load of 600kg. It's a handy, inexpensive option wherever you want a quick clip-on connection rather than a shackle.
