International Shipping — Terms & Conditions

International Shipping — Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 27 June 2026

Action Outdoors Limited ships selected products to international destinations. By placing an international order, you agree to the following terms in addition to our standard Terms of Service, Shipping Policy, and Returns & Refunds Policy.

1. Available Destinations

We currently ship internationally to Australia and selected Pacific Island nations (including Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu). Additional destinations may be added over time. If your country is not listed at checkout, we do not currently ship there.

2. Import Duties, Taxes & Customs Fees

All international orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means:

  • The buyer is solely responsible for all import duties, taxes, customs clearance fees, brokerage charges, and any other government-imposed charges in the destination country.
  • These charges are NOT included in the product price or shipping cost shown at checkout.
  • Duty and tax amounts vary by country and product type — please check with your local customs authority before ordering if you are unsure.
  • Action Outdoors has no control over customs processing times, delays, or charges imposed by your country.

Duty-Free Thresholds (Guide Only)

Country Duty-Free Threshold Notes
Australia AUD $1,000 Most orders under $1,000 AUD arrive duty-free. GST (10%) applies on goods over AUD $75 purchased online.
Fiji FJD $200 (~NZD $150) Fiscal duty 9%, VAT 15% on goods above threshold
Tonga TOP $100 (~NZD $70) Consumption tax 15% + customs duty up to 30%
Samoa WST $100 (~NZD $60) VAGST 15% applies above threshold
Cook Islands NZD $250 Duty rates vary 0–25%
Papua New Guinea PGK $1,000 (~NZD $430) GST 10% + import duties vary by product

Thresholds are approximate and subject to change. Always confirm with your local customs authority.

3. Customs Refusal & Abandoned Shipments

If you refuse to pay duties/taxes and the parcel is returned to us, or if customs seizes or destroys the goods:

  • You will receive NO REFUND for the order.
  • If the parcel is returned to us, you may be refunded the product cost only, less all shipping charges (outbound, return freight, and any customs penalties).
  • Parcels uncollected from customs for more than 30 days will be treated as abandoned. No refund will be issued.
  • Any return freight charges will be deducted from any refund at our discretion.

4. Restricted & Prohibited Products

Certain products cannot be shipped internationally due to dangerous goods regulations (IATA), carrier restrictions, or destination country import laws. These include but are not limited to:

  • Lithium batteries (standalone batteries over 100Wh, including marine batteries and large power banks)
  • Aerosol spray cans (pressurised containers such as CRC sprays and lubricants)
  • Flammable liquids (epoxy resins, fuels, solvents)
  • Gas appliances (gas heaters, hobs, and ovens with gas fittings)
  • Strong magnets (neodymium fishing magnets exceeding IATA magnetic field limits)
  • Knives — may be restricted depending on destination country laws (Australia requires permits for fixed-blade knives; UK has strict knife import laws)

Products tagged as restricted will be clearly marked on their product page, or removed from international checkout. If you have questions about a specific product, please contact us before ordering.

5. Shipping Carriers & Timeframes

International orders are shipped via DHL Express or NZ Post International, depending on destination, size, and weight. Carrier selection is at our discretion unless a specific service is offered at checkout.

Destination Estimated Delivery Carrier
Australia 3–7 business days DHL Express / NZ Post
Pacific Islands 5–14 business days (air) / 4–8 weeks (sea) DHL / NZ Post / Sea freight

Delivery timeframes are estimates only and do not include customs processing time. Action Outdoors is not responsible for delays caused by customs inspections, public holidays in the destination country, or carrier disruptions.

6. Shipping Rates

International shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on destination, weight, and dimensions. Rates shown at checkout are the full shipping cost — there are no hidden delivery surcharges from us. However, your country's customs authority may charge a separate clearance or brokerage fee upon delivery.

7. Payment

International orders must be paid by credit card or debit card via our secure checkout (powered by Shopify Payments). We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

PayPal is not accepted for international orders.

For wholesale or bulk international enquiries, we accept payment by bank transfer. Please contact us for wholesale pricing and terms.

8. Returns & Refunds — International Orders

Our standard Returns & Refunds Policy applies to international orders, with these additional conditions:

  • Return shipping is at the buyer's expense. You are responsible for all return freight costs, including any customs paperwork or export fees from your country.
  • Returned goods must be shipped with tracking and adequate insurance — we are not responsible for items lost or damaged in return transit.
  • Refunds will be processed only after the returned goods are received and inspected at our Auckland warehouse.
  • Original outbound shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error (wrong item, faulty product).
  • Change-of-mind returns on international orders are at our discretion and will incur a restocking fee of up to 20%.

9. Damaged or Missing Items

  • Please inspect your parcel upon delivery. If goods are visibly damaged, note the damage with the courier before signing.
  • Report any damage or missing items to us within 48 hours of delivery with photos.
  • Claims made after 48 hours may not be accepted by the shipping carrier's insurance.

10. Customs Documentation

All international shipments include a commercial invoice with accurate product descriptions, HS codes (where applicable), and declared values. We declare the actual sale price on all customs forms — we do not under-declare values.

11. Insurance

Basic carrier insurance is included with all international shipments. For high-value orders (over NZD $500), we recommend purchasing additional shipping insurance at checkout if offered, or contacting us to arrange cover.

12. GST (NZ Goods & Services Tax)

Under New Zealand law, goods exported from New Zealand are zero-rated for GST (0%). The 15% NZ GST that applies to domestic orders is automatically removed for international shipping addresses at checkout.

13. Order Cancellation

International orders may be cancelled for a full refund only if the order has not yet been dispatched. Once shipped, cancellation is not possible — the parcel must be returned under Section 8 above.

14. Limitation of Liability

Action Outdoors Limited is not liable for:

  • Customs duties, taxes, or fees imposed by the destination country
  • Delays, seizures, or destruction of goods by customs authorities
  • Losses arising from incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses provided by the buyer
  • Carrier delays beyond our control (weather, strikes, pandemics, customs backlogs)
  • Products confiscated due to the buyer's country's import restrictions

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any disputes will be resolved under the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
