Screen Protectors NZ — Tempered Glass vs Privacy (2026)

Screen Protectors NZ — Tempered Glass vs Privacy (2026)

A screen protector costs a fraction of a screen repair. Here's how to choose the right one for your phone.

Types of Screen Protectors

Tempered Glass

  • What: Real glass, hardened through heat treatment
  • Protection: Absorbs impact — the protector cracks instead of your screen
  • Feel: Smooth, like your actual screen
  • Clarity: Crystal clear, no impact on display quality
  • Best for: Everyone — the gold standard in screen protection

Privacy Screen Protector

  • What: Tempered glass with a privacy filter built in
  • How it works: Limits viewing angles — only the person directly in front can see the screen
  • Best for: Banking, emails, sensitive work on public transport
  • Trade-off: Slightly reduces brightness (you may need to increase screen brightness)
