A 10" standard carbon block cartridge that removes the chlorine taste and odour from your drinking water, cooking water, and hot drinks. Carbon block media adsorbs the dissolved compounds that make treated town supply taste and smell flat or chemical — the result is noticeably better water from the same tap.

Available in two options — Davey Microlene or Waimana — select from the dropdown.

Important: this is a 10" standard cartridge, 2.5" in diameter. It fits slim filter housings. It will not fit jumbo or Big Blue housings, which take 4.5" diameter cartridges. Check your existing cartridge size before ordering.

Sold as a single cartridge.

FAQ

What does a carbon block cartridge do?

Carbon block media adsorbs dissolved chemicals from the water — primarily chlorine and the organic compounds that cause off tastes and odours. Unlike a sediment filter, it targets dissolved substances rather than particles.

How often do I replace it?

Replace it when chlorine taste or odour returns. Most households replace every 6–12 months depending on water usage and local chlorine levels.

Will it fit my housing?

It fits any 10" standard housing that takes a 2.5" diameter cartridge. If you have a jumbo (Big Blue) housing that takes a 4.5" cartridge, this will not fit. Measure your existing cartridge or check your housing model if you're unsure.

What's the difference between the Davey Microlene and Waimana options?

Both remove chlorine taste and odour effectively. The Davey Microlene carries WaterMark and AS/NZS 4020 certification — independently verified standards for products in contact with drinking water. The Waimana option is a reliable, lower-cost alternative without that certification. For most permanent home installations, we'd lean toward the Davey Microlene.

Is this suitable for rainwater?

Carbon block is most commonly used for town supply where chlorine is the concern. For rainwater, sediment removal is typically the priority — get in touch if you'd like help choosing the right cartridge for your water source.

Do I need special tools to change it?

No. A standard filter housing spanner — usually supplied with your housing — is all you need.

What warranty applies?

Filter cartridges are consumable items. If yours arrives damaged or defective, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
