Manson Galvanised Plough Anchor. Best holding in a variety of weather and seabed conditions. Originally designed in 1933.
The Manson Plough Anchor
The Manson Plough anchor has been trusted by many yachtsmen, fishing fleets, tender operators, and merchant and navy ships, in the harshest and most extreme conditions.
The Plough's versatility and holding power in most circumstances will outperform all other anchors if set correctly.
Manson began manufacturing the Plough anchor in 1972, and the Manson Plough has now become Australasia's anchor of choice - synonymous with safe anchoring. It's built tough to withstand the rigours of the southern ocean; it's respected as the ideal all-purpose anchor.
The Manson Plough is certified by Lloyd's Register as an HHP (High Holding Power) anchor. This process involves design approval of the anchor drawings, extreme scrutinising of the manufacturing process, and seabed testing of the anchor in three different soil substrates.
Manson Plough recommended sizing specifications
Anchor sizing should be interpreted as a guide only. Many factors influence anchor size selection, ie, whether the boat is a heavy displacement or a light displacement craft and how much windage the vessel has. The chain size, weight and length are critical to anchor performance, and if in doubt, use a larger chain. Finally, the vessel usage should also be factored in, i.e. whether the anchor will only be used as a "lunch pick" in fair weather for day outings or, indeed, whether the vessel will be going on extended coastal or offshore cruising. If you in any doubt about anchor selection, always use a bigger anchor in bad weather or motoring failure; it is the only thing you can rely on to save the lives of you and your crew.
