NZ Legal Flounder Fishing Net – Mono Mesh with Floating Top Rope

This loose-slung tangle net is made from commercial-grade mono mesh and braided lead line bottom rope, designed for catching flatfish such as flounder and sole. The 8mm floating top rope keeps the net standing without floats, and the lead line bottom rope holds it on the seabed where flounder feed. Pockets come already sewn in.

Why slinging ratio matters

Action Fishing Nets are made for quality and slung to catch the most fish for a given length. All our set nets are slung at a 50% slinging ratio: 2m of mesh for every 1m of finished net. Most imported nets are made to a price, not quality, and are slung at up to 70%: for every 2m of mesh they make 1.4m of finished net. When comparing fishing net prices, keep this in mind.

Where to use it

Designed for sheltered waters. Not suitable for surf beaches, dragging, or areas with lots of oysters, shells, etc.

Can be used NZ-wide, subject to MPI rules. Some local South Island areas require nine-mesh-deep nets to protect marine mammals and other protected species.

Setting your net

Use at least 1kg of anchors per 20m of net on each end, depending on tidal conditions.
