What mesh size mullet net is legal in NZ?
100mm mesh is legal everywhere in NZ for mullet set nets. Some areas allow 90mm for drag nets only. Always check MPI rules for your specific area.
What length mullet net should I buy?
30m is the most popular length — it covers good ground and is easy to manage solo. Go 40m–60m for bigger harbours and estuaries.
What's the difference between mono and multi-mono mullet nets?
Mono mesh is thinner and nearly invisible in clear water — better catch rate in clear conditions. Multi-mono is twisted multi-strand — stronger, lasts longer, better in dirty water.
