Catch Jigs — Designed for NZ Conditions

Baby Boss Slow Pitch Jigs

The Baby Boss is the entry-level slow pitch jig that's become a Kiwi favourite. Light enough to fish in shallow water, the flutter action on the drop triggers aggressive strikes from snapper, trevally, and kahawai:

  • 20g weight — ideal for reefs in 10–40m
  • 4 colour set available — try different patterns to find what works
  • Glow + UV features — visible in low light
  • From $10.30

If you're new to slow pitch jigging, start with the Baby Boss. It's forgiving, affordable, and catches fish.

Boss Squid Jigs

The Boss Squid Jig is Catch's all-in-one lure — it works as both a traditional jig and a squid jig. This versatility means you can target everything from snapper to squid without changing lures:

  • Works for jigging AND squid fishing
  • Multiple fishing techniques — slow pitch, vertical, casting
  • From $12.25

Squidwings

The 750g Squidwings are heavy-duty lures designed for deep water. The Blue Glow pattern is proven on hapuku, bass, and bluenose in deep drops:

  • 750g — sinks fast to 100m+ depths
  • Blue Glow pattern — highly visible at depth
  • $26.66

Super Lumo Squid Jig

At 300mm long, the Super Lumo is a large-profile squid jig designed to attract big squid from a distance. The lumo glow charges under UV and stays bright for extended periods:

  • 300mm size — big profile for big squid
  • Lumo glow technology
  • $55.00

Tenya Jig Heads — Stingaz Glow + UV

Tenya-style jig heads are designed for bait fishing with a jigging action. Thread live or dead bait onto the jig head and work it near the bottom — the combination of natural bait and jigging action is deadly on snapper:

  • 1/4 oz — from $5.75
  • Stingaz Glow + UV — attracts fish in murky water

Catch Soft Baits — Black Label Livies

Catch's Black Label Livies are premium soft baits that imitate live baitfish with incredible realism. The paddle tail design creates a natural swimming action that targets almost every species in New Zealand waters.

5-Inch Livies — Inshore All-Rounders

The 5-inch size is the go-to for snapper, kahawai, trevally, and john dory in 10–40m of water:

  • Bronze Baitfish — natural colour, works everywhere
  • Black Ninja — dark silhouette, great in clear water
  • 5 per pack — $6.96

7-Inch Livies — Bigger Targets

Step up to 7-inch when targeting bigger snapper, kingfish, and trevally. The larger profile triggers strikes from fish that ignore smaller baits:

  • Engine Oil — dark, iridescent, low-light killer
  • Glowing Gurnard — UV-reactive, murky water specialist
  • Bananarama — bright yellow-green, attracts from distance
  • Nuclear Chicken — chartreuse/pink, the universal big-fish colour
  • Mighty Mangrove — estuary natural
  • 4 per pack — $8.91

Soft Bait Tips for NZ

  • Match the jig head to the depth: Lighter heads for shallow, heavier for deep or current
  • Slow retrieve — let the tail work. Most Kiwi anglers retrieve too fast
  • Upgrade your hooks — replace stock jig head hooks with quality chemically sharpened hooks
  • Try glow colours at dawn/dusk — Glowing Gurnard and Nuclear Chicken produce when light is low
  • Keep spares — soft baits get chewed up. 2–3 packs per trip is normal
