Whitebait Season-Scallop Fishery Area Closures

The Season is open from 15th Aug 2016 to 30 Nov 2016 (inclusive) but excluding West Coast.  

Chatham Island season runs between 1st Dec to last day of Feb (inclusive).  Read on for info regarding the regulations for all of NZ (except the West Coast.)

The taking of whitebait at all other times is prohibited. Fishing is only permitted between 5:00 am and 8:00 pm or between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm when New Zealand Daylight Saving is being observed.
