What sets the Duratorque 2200kg apart is its sophisticated self-contained suspension design. A rubber cord springing medium provides reliable resilience, while the two sides stay independent, so each wheel can react to terrain without transferring shocks to the other. This translates to better handling, reduced sway, and improved track stability for caravans, flatbeds, livestock trailers, and other heavy-haul applications.
Duratorque components are built to endure. All parts are either galvanised or electro-zinc plated to resist corrosion in demanding environments, ensuring longevity in marine, agricultural, or industrial trailer use. Since 2011, 1000kg–1750kg versions feature a bolt-in replaceable stub axle, making maintenance and upgrades simpler over the life of the trailer.
Key features and capabilities
- Independent wheel suspension — each wheel springs separately for better ride quality and tracking, especially on uneven surfaces.
- Custom-length beam — Duratorque Straight Beam Axle 2200kg is tailored to your required length; hub equipment is sold separately to fit your exact setup.
- High-load capacities — available in 1000kg, 1500kg, 1750kg, and 2200kg (two-piece and full beam types), with a 3000kg option for full and drop beam configurations.
- Braked or non-braked hubs — compatible with hydraulic disc brakes, electric drum brakes, and hydraulic drum brakes across multiple capacities for flexible braking choices.
- Durable protection — galvanised or electro-zinc plated finishes guard against corrosion in challenging environments.
- Bolt-in stub axle (retrofit option) — from 2011, the bolt-in replaceable stub axle simplifies service and upgrades on select capacities.
Configuration and installation notes
- Duratorque is available in two-piece and full-beam formats; capacity is per axle for single-axle setups. When mounted in tandem, total capacity must be reduced by 25% (e.g., two 1500kg full-beam units carry 2250kg).
- Available hub options include non-braked or disc-braked configurations, with Hydraulic Disc (1500kg, 1750kg, 2200kg, 3000kg), Electric Drum (1500kg, 1750kg, 2200kg), and Hydraulic Drum (1250kg).
- Best practice for mounting: position the swing arms such that they trail behind the trailer; keep the tyre track as narrow as possible in tandem installations, not exceeding 150mm.
- Maintain a clearance of at least 120mm between the top of the tyres and the mudguards when the axle is new and unloaded.
- For tandem configurations, the front axle should be braked to optimise braking balance and stability.
- When ordering a full-beam Duratorque, provide the required length measurements A and B as shown in the accompanying photos.
