The Full Beam Duratorque, 1750kg, Straight Beam, Low-Rider is a purpose-built trailer suspension designed to maximise stability, ride quality, and carrying capacity across a wide range of trailer configurations. Built around Duratorque’s self-contained, independently sprung wheels, this straight-beam solution delivers predictable handling and easy retrofitting to most trailer frames.

Why this Duratorque stands out

Duratorque is a purpose-made, rubber-cord suspension that keeps each wheel independently supported. That means superior ride comfort, improved load distribution, and reduced trailer sway compared with traditional leaf-spring setups. All components are galvanised or electro-zinc plated for corrosion resistance in demanding environments, from coastal use to rugged work sites.

Key advantages at a glance

  • Independent wheel travel: Each corner reacts to load and road conditions on its own, delivering consistent tire contact and better stability during cornering.
  • Versatile configurations: Available in two-piece units to fit any chassis width, or full-beam variants tailored to customer specifications, including gull-wing designs for boat trailers to sit lower on the frame.
  • Wide capacity range: Suitable for 1000kg up to 3000kg configurations across single and tandem axle setups, with specific 1750kg and 2200kg electric drum and disc-braked options.
  • Durability built-in: Fully corrosion-protected parts and robust construction that holds up under demanding trailer use.

Capacity, modes, and compatibility

Duratorque carrying capacities are listed per axle pair and vary by beam type. For single-axle use, Duratorques cover 1000kg, 1500kg, 1750kg, 2200kg, and 3000kg options. When mounted in tandem, the per-axle capacity is reduced by 25% to maintain safety margins (e.g., two 1500kg full-beam Duratorques support 2250kg total).

Duratorque systems can be paired with non-braked hubs or fully braked hubs. Braking options include hydraulic disc brakes and electric drum brakes, with capacities aligned to the axle rating. The 1750kg Duratorque model is available as a non-braked or disc-braked version, and the electric drum-braked variant is offered specifically at 1750kg capacity, with 2200kg options available in other configurations.

Two-piece vs. full-beam: what suits your trailer

The two-piece Duratorques fit any chassis width, making retrofits straightforward across a broad spectrum of trailers. Full-beam Duratorques, crafted to your required length (C & B measurement as shown in the diagram), offer a seamless, integrated appearance and optimized weight distribution for longer trailers. A gull-wing full-beam variant remains a popular choice for boat trailers, letting the boat sit lower on the trailer for easier loading and improved stability on the water.

Installation considerations and best practices

  • Mounting orientation: It is recommended to fit Duratorques with the swing arms trailing to optimise handling and load transfer.
  • Tandem spacing: When used in tandem, keep the distance between the tyres to a minimum, not exceeding 150mm.
  • Clearance: Ensure the distance from the top of the tyres to the mudguards (when new and unloaded) is at least 120mm.
  • Front axle braking in tandem: The front axle in a tandem setup should be braked to maintain balanced braking performance.
  • Full-beam measurements: For full-beam Duratorques, supply the C & B length measurements as shown in the diagram to guarantee precise fitment.

How to order and what to expect

Because these are made-to-order components, please expect a lead time of 6-8 weeks. When placing an order, download and complete the axle order sheet and return it with your request. Hub equipment (hubs, brakes, and related components) should be ordered separately to suit your chosen configuration. The Duratorque family offers a variety of mounting options and brake configurations, so you can tailor the system to your trailer’s weight, use-case, and braking requirements.

Available configurations relevant to the Full Beam Duratorque, 1750kg Straight Beam Low-Rider include:

  • T101046: 1000kg - 1500kg (two-piece, non-braked or disc-braked)
  • T101055: 1750kg (two-piece, non-braked or disc-braked)
  • T101051: 1750kg Electric drum braked
  • T101052: 2200kg (two-piece with non-braked hubs or disc-braked)
  • T101068: 3000kg (full beam; non-braked, disc-braked, or electric-braked)
