Why Duratorque stands apart
Duratorque is a purpose-built trailer suspension that combines rugged durability with simple installation. Each wheel is independently sprung using a specially formulated rubber cord, so the two sides aren’t connected. That means superior ride quality on uneven ground, reduced road shock transfer, and greater stability for heavy loads. All Duratorque components are galvanised or electro-zinc plated to resist corrosion in challenging environments—ideal for boat trailers, utility trailers, or any demanding application.
Key specifications and configurations
- Carrying capacities: 1000kg, 1500kg, 1750kg to 2200kg in both two-piece and full-beam types; 3000kg available in full and drop beam configurations.
- Single-axle and tandem setups with a simple rule: tandem capacity is reduced by 25% per axle (e.g., two 1500kg full-beam Duratorques carry 2250kg together).
- Modular two-piece units that fit any chassis width, or full-beam versions manufactured to your exact length (C & B measurements). A gull-wing full-beam option exists for boat trailers to lower the boat’s seating height on the trailer.
- Braking options include non-braked hubs, disc-braked hubs, and electric drum braked Duratorques (1750kg and 2200kg capacities).
- Electric drum braked Duratorques are available at 1750kg and 2200kg capacities, offering reliable, integrated braking without external lines.
Configurations and part numbers you’ll reference
Straight Beam Type Duratorques — select by capacity and hub type:
- T101046 — 1000kg to 1500kg (select capacity). Non-braked & disc-braked options.
- T101055 — 1750kg. Non-braked & disc-braked options.
- T101051 — 1750kg Electric drum braked.
- T101052 — 2200kg. Non-braked hubs & disc-braked options.
- T101068 — 3000kg. Non-braked, disc & electric braked.
Note: For full-beam Duratorques, ensure you provide the required length measurements C & B as shown in the diagram for a precise fit. Gull-wing full beams are particularly popular for boat trailers, enabling a lower boat profile on the trailer.
Practical fitment guidance
- It’s recommended to mount Duratorques with the swing arms trailing for optimal alignment and suspension performance.
- When mounting in tandem, keep the tyre spacing to a minimum and do not exceed 150mm between tyres.
- From the top of the tyres to the mudguards, allow at least 120mm of clearance when the Duratorques are new and unloaded.
- In tandem configurations, the front axle should be braked to maximize braking balance and control.
- Duratorques are compatible with non-braked or braked hubs; plan your braking configuration based on the trailer’s load and regulatory requirements.
Who this is for and practical use cases
Ideal for any trailer owner seeking a robust, maintenance-friendly suspension that keeps wheels independently controlled, reducing chassis stress and improving load stability. The Full Beam Duratorque is particularly well-suited to heavy utility trailers, boat trailers (with the gull-wing full-beam option), and other demanding single-axle or tandem applications where durable, corrosion-resistant hardware matters as much as load capacity.
Why choose this over other suspensions
The independent-wheel design eliminates cross-linking between sides, so a bump on one wheel doesn’t steal performance from the other. The self-contained system is quickly fitted to most trailer chassis, and the galvanised/electro-zinc plated components provide long-term protection in harsh environments. With a range of capacities and braking options, you can tailor Duratorque to your exact trailer configuration and load requirements—often with fewer aftermarket adjustments than traditional leaf-spring or solid-beam suspensions.
Ready to specify your setup? Remember to download the axle order sheet when you order and gather hub equipment separately. This ensures you get the exact Duratorque configuration your trailer needs—from single-axle to multi-axle, with the right brake type and beam length to match your chassis.
