When the alternator raises charging voltage to 13.3 volts, the Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR) engages and begins charging both batteries, visible via the red indicator light in the top left corner. When you finish a trip and the system voltage dips below 12.8 volts, the VSR disengages, preserving the starting battery while the auxiliary bank keeps essential accessories running.
