Caravans and Campervans often navigate tight parking spaces and rugged terrain when reversing.
Without a reversing camera, you face an increased risk of damaging your vehicle, which often entails enormous repair costs or third-party claims. With a reversing camera, you can reduce much of the stress from driving with reduced sight. When choosing a reversing camera system for your RV, we always recommend the following: the monitor should operate over a wide input voltage range, automatically switch when the reverse gear is engaged, accept multiple camera inputs, and have a high-resolution TFT-LCD screen. The camera viewing angle MUST be between 120-180 degrees. Any less than 120 degrees will restrict the view; any more will create a dangerous fisheye image. The image should have good colour saturation and brightness. Finally, the camera lens must be waterproof, with a low-light illumination function for nighttime driving.
The general rule of thumb is that wired caravan cameras are the best option as they are more reliable and offer the best clarity. This does not mean wireless options do not have their merits. When pulling a caravan, there is often some anxiety compared to operating an ordinary passenger vehicle.
