An Essential Service That Has Been Over Whelmed in NZ
Courier companies are insanely overloaded in NZ, with too many parcels, and not enough service workers. We see the trucks speeding by to get to their next delivery and get side-barreled by the van next to us. Why? The pressure on courier drivers is great because the demand for their services is so high and there are not enough workers to meet that demand, there is no choice. Even in normal times, couriers are over-extended, but since Covid - consumers are using online services more and more. We ask ourselves, who is the best? How do we choose? What is the timeline?
As a business, we are sending out parcels every day and rely on courier services. While we cannot guarantee courier times, we do work in conjunction with and are affected by the stress placed on the delivery system. As of September of 2021 - depots and drivers have been under immense pressure to get items moving around the country. As Levels change(d) during the past year, courier companies have posted limits on parcel deliveries as volumes surge. In Auckland alone, depots were receiving in excess of 2 million packages a day - as people were reliant on online shopping. There just are not enough resources to uphold the traditional timeframes.
So as we are still feeling the effects of lockdowns and major Log jams, how do we know who to choose and what to do when our parcels don't show up?
First thing, first - you need to USE your tracking number. Whether you go into the Post or receive items online, you should be given a tracking number or reference number. Use it.
All Courier companies have a tracking tool and once you enter this tracking number, you can see the progress of your parcel. If there are no updates, we urge you to contact the sender. At Action Outdoors, we have set up a special mailbox where you can contact us if your parcel has not arrived - tracking@actionoutdoors.kiwi
We understand the frustration but patience is necessary as we are a small country with big expectations. We know that it is not easy for either side but we are all in this together. Procurement, processing and delivery have been affected so make sure that you order your items in advance to avoid disappointment.
At Action Outdoors, we use Aramex and Courier Post (a subsidiary of NZ Post)
Both have tracking tools for you to follow the path of your next delivery. If in doubt, use the email provided above and we will help you out. Otherwise, give us a call.
